Case Study
The
Open
Digital experience for golf's oldest major championship — real-time scores, live content, and immersive storytelling inside your pocket.
The Open Championship carries over 150 years of history — it's golf's original major, and its digital experience needed to reflect that legacy while meeting the expectations of a modern, mobile-first audience. The R&A wanted an app that felt as premium as the event itself, serving fans both on the links and watching from home.
The objective: design a championship app that combined real-time leaderboard data, hole-by-hole scoring, and live video with the editorial depth and visual richness that The Open's heritage demands. Every detail, from typography to transitions, had to feel considered.
I designed the end-to-end experience across the app — from the tournament hub and interactive course maps to player profiles and push notification flows. The visual language drew from The Open's brand identity while introducing a cleaner, more contemporary digital expression.
