Boards is a project about skateboard.
Skateboarding has become mainstream and many of the "true" skaters don't like that. The project is to build a secret idiom and a social network regrouping people sharing a precise vision of skateboard.
I began studying the history of skateboard, it's origins from the surf to the streets.
Skaters are basically rebels, people refusing to live by the rules of society.
They lead some kind of revolution of the streets, breaking into gardens to ride empty swimming pools.
The street langage reminded me of Basquiat.
I also discovered several secret idioms in Africa based on secrecy between a few members of a tribe, only understandable to the iniate
The project is based on a secret langage I tried to elaborate.
A simple code know only by the iniate, the members of the secret society of the "true" skaters.
Set of signs
Selected signs, representing skating modules.
The logotype is clearly inspired by the gang tags of the 70's in LA's streets.
The skate spots can be marked with stickers to make them part of the society, like "Boards approved".
The only way to download the application and be a member of the society, is to scan a QR Code, unlocking your inscription.
The same system is used to add friends, you have to meet them on the field and scan their personnal QR Code to access their profile page and add them to share sports, videos, phots... ect
Those QR can take place on multiple supports.
